meet the coach
michael carman
Coach Carman was raised in Hardin County and after graduating with Honors from HCHS in 1994, went to the University of Tennessee at Martin. Coach Carman completed three Bachelor’s Degrees: Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science and Agricultural Education. He then went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision at Trevecca Nazarene University. Coach Carman started as an assistant coach with the Hitmen in 2001, the same year the team was formed. After 4 years Coach Carman was named Head Coach in 2005. Under Coach Carman’s direction, his teams have won 12 Regional Championships, 7 State Championships and he has coached 16 Individual State Champions in various divisions to date. He also has been the personal coach to athletes on the United States National Team (Team USA) and the certified Olympic Training Team TN. Coach Carman is a certified instructor of TN Hunter Education, a master instructor/coach of ATA, NRA, SSSF, and AIM national shooting organizations. Coach Carman is married to Melissa (Oakley) Carman, and they have three children, Macy, Madison, and Marlee. They attend Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah.
